GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World was designed as both a celebration of the Mother City and a monument to fun and entertainment. From the elegance of the Grand Hotel to the vibrancy of District Six, many elements of Cape Town’s colourful past have been incorporated into the architectural and interior design. The design theme captures the vintage days of Cape Town’s past, with building façades reflecting traditional Cape Town architecture.
The casino itself is of late Victorian design, and boasts over 68 tables offering Blackjack, American Roulette, Raise ’em Poker, Punto Banco and 2524 slot machines, including African themed slots such as African Express, making it the largest casino in South Africa and biggest slots operation in the Southern Hemisphere.
In line with the latest trend, the complex offers far more than just a casino. It encompasses a four-star hotel, a variety of shops, night clubs and bars, restaurants, cinemas, entertainment area and even an ice-skating rink.
The recent expansion project, completed in 2006, added a new smoking casino, additional restaurants, ten-pin bowling and multi-purpose arena. The recently-built Grand Arena seats over 5 000 people hosting the ultimate in big-name acts and live entertainment.
