The Swiss International Scientific School is built on a prime 67,845m² plot of land in Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2. The construction of the 55,000m² school and sports facilities is one of the highest building specifications including Swiss Energy conservation.
The Architecture is contemporary using materials and technology in order to ensure the Swiss Minergie Model, limiting energy consumption by adhering to daylighting and thermal insulation of buildings. The building proudly has achieved Minergie pre-certification and is the first to do so within a cooled environment, under the institutional building” category.
The development of the building’s aesthetics is multi-layered finding its form and arrangement as a result of a spatial paradigm. The design is primarily derived through the use of an energy efficiency modelling tool, further informed by the functional requirements of the brief in combination with reference to a Swiss vernacular architecture, all synthesized to create a distinctive identity.
