The core function of BIM coordinators is to manage and optimize Building Information Modelling processes throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to ensure the successful implementation of BIM technology and standards.
The BIM coordinator will coordinate and liaise between project architects and technicians across multiple levels.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
• Diploma / Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in BIM coordination in an Architectural Firm
• 5+ years production experience in design drafting (all design stages)
• Proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD
• Basic knowledge in automation skills like Dynamo and Revit API is an added advantage
• Understanding of various BIM uses such as Code validation, Design coordination, Quantity take-off, GIS, VR, AIM, etc. will be an added advantage
• Strong knowledge of BIM standards and protocols
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team and lead BIM efforts on projects
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
• Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
• Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continued education on BIM
• Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently
• Middle East experience preferred
Responsibilities:
Key office-wide tasks and responsibilities:
• Mentoring and assist with using BIM and BIM software
o Provide training and support to team members in the use of BIM software and tools in groups or one to one
o Revit / CAD library*
o Automate BIM routines to support standards and productivity
o Assess and implement relevant BIM and Revit third party software and plugins
• Interface with and present information to Management on a regular basis
• Keep abreast of industry wide initiatives, trends, software updates and best practices
• Develop, implement and promote new and existing strategies for improving production workflow
• Liaise with the Revit Manager to ensure documentation is kept up to date, relevant to the following:
o BIM manual
o Production handbook
o Concise BIM drawing manual
o Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in BIM technology
o Have a good understanding of international standards used in the BIM process (i.e., ISO, AIA, BS, LOD, LOI, Classification/Specification standards, etc.)
o Experience in additional BIM uses during design stages other than modelling and documentation (i.e., Quantity take-off, GIS, VR, AIM, etc.) will be an added advantage
Project specific tasks and responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee the implementation of BIM processes and standards on projects
• Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain BIM execution plans
• Manage and coordinate 3D models, clash detection, and model coordination
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of BIM models and data
• Monitor project progress and resolve BIM-related issues
• Work stage involvement if required by project teams
• Setting up project template and standards (topography / True & Project North / titleblocks)
• Assist with project specific modelling and documentation
• Ongoing evaluation of project requirements
• Audit & QA/QC of Revit models
